PE
Intent
At Great Kimble School we provide a high quality PE curriculum, led by specialist sports coaches and class teachers. We aim to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity as part of their everyday life, achieving their personal best, regardless of ability.
Children learn about the benefits of being active through our PE curriculum in order to live healthy lives. We provide an environment that enables our children to succeed and become confident to engage in all physical activity. Our Christian values of Respect, Endurance and Forgiveness are threaded throughout our PE curriculum, helping to develop future athletes and good citizens who lead healthy lives.
We look to extend our extracurricular activities each year to provide a vast amount of opportunities for all pupils to try an shine in their chosen sport/s. Each pupil receives a minimum of two hours of high-quality physical education per week, with the additional option to participate in sporting after school clubs run by teachers and specialist sports coaches. There are also opportunities for all pupils to represent the school in a range of competitive and non-competitive sporting fixtures.
Implementation
Swimming in KS2
Year 3 and 4 will attend swimming sessions in the Autumn and Spring Terms at Risborough Springs pool. They will be assessed by the coaches there and if they have reached the required standard will receive a certificate. Any pupils who have not achieved their certificate by the end of year 4 will be given the opportunity for top up sessions before they leave the school in year 6.
