British Values
British values
As a rural school that serves our community, we take our responsibility to promote community cohesion, generate a respect for difference and individual rights seriously.
In accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in school to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
The British Values are:
- democracy
- rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
- tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
Our broad curriculum encourages pupils to reflect upon their role in a diverse society and the school promotes British values through:
- Agents for Change that is voted in by their respective class
- A curriculum that covers global citizenship
- Weekly Picture News in worship
- Listening to pupil and parent voice
- Our school vision and values
- Following expectations and rules
- Modelling behaviour
- Learning about different demographics
- Taking part in Parliament week
