Intent

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject and at Great Kimble School we intend that children should have the opportunity to discover, investigate and explore this area of learning in depth. Design and technology encourages children to use creativity and imagination to design, make and evaluate products in a variety of contexts. We aim to inspire our children with the fascination of learning how products are designed and created. Our children are taught Design and Technology in a way that ensures progression of skills, and follows a sequence to build on from previous learning. Each topic follows a set sequence of lessons – identify a need, research, design, plan, make and evaluate. Our main aim for the D&T curriculum at Great Kimble, is that children are encouraged to be resourceful, resilient and innovative and that we engender an appreciation and Love of human creativity and achievement that lasts throughout their Lives.
