Welcome to Summer 2!

During this half term, we will be covering…

• The Secret Zoo text, where we will be covering narratives, descriptions, predictions and much more in English

• Statistics and measurement  in Maths, for Year 5, and transition projects in maths for Year 6
• Making connections – does the size of an asteroid affect the diameter of its impact crater? in Science

• Can I carry out independent fieldwork? in Geography

• Wellbeing, RSE and changing bodies in learning for life (PSHE)

• How does a worldview help people decide what is important? in RW

• Structures- Playgrounds in DTVerbs in French in French

• Composition and performing a leaver’s song in Music

Key Information 

PE will be on Mondays and Fridays.

Weekly spelling tests will be on Tuesday.

Homework/Home Learning

Reading records need to be handed in on a Monday and will be returned on Tuesday. 

Homework includes:

• Daily reading

• Daily spelling practise - spelling shed

• TT Rockstars

• English and Maths homework

Maths homework will be handed out on a Wednesday and will need to be in by Monday morning (so this can be looked at in class). 

English homework will be handed out on a Friday and will need to be in by Thursday morning (so we can go through this in class). 

If your child has lost their homework, or is not in school on the day it is handed out, a copy of the homework will be available on this class page (under Spellings, Maths or English homework). 

Other

• Our Smokey Row day is Tuesday. In KS2, we only visit every other week (weather dependent). 
• Children also have access to Duolingo to help build their French skills and vocabulary at home.
