Pupil Premium Information

The Pupil Premium is additional Government funding that helps schools support children who may face barriers to learning.

At Great Kimble, we use this funding to provide extra support, enrichment opportunities and resources that help children achieve their full potential.

Every year, we publish a Pupil Premium Strategy Statement explaining:

  • How much funding we receive

  • How we plan to use it

  • The difference it is making for pupils

You can read our latest strategy here:

Could my child be eligible?

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium if you receive certain benefits, including:

  • Universal Credit

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit

  • Child Tax Credit (subject to income limits)

Children may also be eligible if they:

  • Are or have previously been in the care of a local authority

  • Have been adopted from care or are subject to a Special Guardianship Order or Child Arrangements Order

  • Have a parent serving in the armed forces

Why is it important to register?

Even if your child already receives free school meals, registering may help the school receive additional funding through the Pupil Premium.

This funding can be used to provide extra support, resources and opportunities for pupils.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium

From September 2026, more families receiving Universal Credit can qualify for free school meals. However, not every child who receives free school meals will attract Pupil Premium funding for their school. The school can help you understand what applies to your child.
