I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and are well rested ready for a new term at school! I am really looking forward to learning all about China, both ancient and modern, this term and hope you all are as well!

 

Our Spring Topic is: China

Our Big Question is: How do legacies influence the modern day?

Our concepts are: Traditions, Legacy and Influence

Our Christian Value is: Endurance

During this half term, we will be…

  • Reading Chinese traditional tales and rewriting our own using the same themes, as well as researching about Chinese New Year to write our own chronological reports in English.
  • Finishing off our work on fractions by subtracting and multiplying them and then moving onto decimals and percentages in Maths.
  • Experimenting with different materials and investigating how their properties change in Science.
  • Studying the Shang Dynasty and discovering all about their Kings, religious beliefs and what everyday life might have been like in History.
  • Exploring Chinese art throughout history, including the significance of dragons and their use of calligraphy in Art.
  • Learning about different kinds of relationships between people and how to respond to other people’s emotions in PSHE.
  • Thinking about what makes an ideal community and how the community of the Mosque helps Muslims to live better lives in RE.
  • Listening to a variety of compositions in relation to life cycles in Music.
  • Recalling our knowledge about how to keep safe online including creating strong passwords and looking at edited photographs in Computing.
  • Learning vocabulary for items at a café and basic greetings in Spanish.

 

PE kits are needed on Mondays and Fridays.

Weekly spelling tests will be on Mondays (the first one will be Monday 17th January!)

Cracking Times Tables will continue to happen on Mondays and Fridays.

Homework will still be Mathletics every Friday, weekly spellings, reading daily and the homework project books- the grid for this half term will be sent out soon!
