Support For Children with SEN and Disability
Great Kimble Church of England School is proud to be an inclusive school that is committed to providing Challenge For All pupils in order to ensure that every pupil, including those with SEND, achieves their full potential. We believe all children have individual needs, strengths and talents which should be met through a challenging, enjoyable and enriched curriculum which provides opportunities for all children to work at their own level and pace. We recognise that many children may require additional support or additional challenge at some point within their learning journey.
We believe that all children should be equally valued in school. All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background and complies with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Regulations 2014. We strive to remove any barriers to learning which could hinder or exclude individual pupils with SEND. We believe all children should have the opportunity to flourish and feel safe. We support the development of the whole child, whilst valuing and celebrating the many and varied abilities displayed by all children.
We provide an inclusive environment where all learners enjoy their learning, focusing on quality first teaching for all pupils within the classroom, which is further supplemented by scaffolding, adult support and intervention as appropriate. Please see the link to our Accessibility Plan below.
Our School Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) is Mrs B. Matthews. Please contact the school office on 01844 346 189 if you would like to arrange an appointment with her, or alternatively, she can be contacted via email: senco@gkglt.co.uk
