12th June 2020

Good Morning Year 3!

I hope you are all safe and well. Thank you so much for your understanding about my daughter’s unexpected trip to hospital yesterday. I really do hope you are all OK and ready for a fantastic Friday!

Today’s Maths activity is about subtracting two 3-digit numbers. The tasks are split into Hot, Extra Hot, Spicy and Chilli Challenges. Just as in school, please choose the task that you feel is most appropriate for your learning journey, starting on either Hot or Extra Hot working your way towards the Chilli Challenge. If you’re enjoying the tasks, then please work your way through them, taking as much time as you need. However, my expectation is that you need only spend around 20 minutes doing these puzzles. Please let me know how you get on.

There is also the Friday Family Maths Challenge. This is a family challenge, so please share and talk the puzzles through with your household. Try to find the solutions to the questions together. There may be more than one way of solving the questions and this is a great opportunity for everyone to share their favourite strategies.

For the extra activity today, I wondered if you might enjoy researching an animal of your choice and making a fact file. I know that there are many of you who are extremely interested in many different animals. You can choose any one you like. For me, deciding on my animal will take me a long time; so, I thought I would choose an animal that lives in the ocean in honour of World Oceans Day.

Friday is also the day for your weekly spelling challenge. Please use the spelling challenge sheet to see how your brain is getting on remembering your spellings.

If you can, please do email in to let me know your news and learning. It is so wonderful to hear from you and see your photos.

I really hope you have a fantastic Friday and a lovely weekend.

Best Wishes,

Mrs Morris
